Except that I don't think "economics" produced these things, more fossil energy as Indi.ca says and also large dollops of basic research (often government-funded) in overcoming the obstacles that stood in the way of flight, penicillin, computers, synthetic rubber, etc, etc. And certainly not *economists* at any rate.
