Interesting point about Jed and Sharon as opposite faces of the same coin, presumably defending some kludge that might be destabilised if the system is reformed, even if the reform is a good idea.

Anyway the DOGE spirit is not unique to Trumpland, as New Zealand has embarked, indeed as of December, on an evolving strategy of firing what's now to be 1,000 health-sector IT Jeds from the admittedly ramshsackle system that runs the New Zealand equivalent of Britain's NHS, the equivalent of about 70,000 Jeds in the USA after allowing for population, under the slogan “fail early, fail often, succeed over time:” https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/541406/union-hits-back-at-astonishing-health-nz-cuts.

There are some who point out that as in air traffic control, let's say, this approach might also be a bit risky in the health sector, with making sure that you don't get sick for a year or two probably a good idea.
