It is reassuring as of 11 August to see that there is plenty of interest in this article already, just as there always is in the classics, on the part of all but the beancounters as it would seem. As for arts/humanities/classics vs STEM, I recall my HS science teacher advising us of the ten or so reasons by which the ancients figured out the earth was a globe, so no inconsistency there. Plus, I am glad as a Kiwi myself you led me to discover the Beths! Keeping this brief in view of the 300+ other comments, and counting.
