NZ has been getting called out for being not-so-Green for quite some time, ever since 'New Zealand's Poisoned Paradise' (New Scientist, 1993).

Quite right though: one does expect more from a country that still brands itself as 'clean and green', and which is so well endowed with renewable sources of energy--a sunnier version of Norway--as well.

Unfortunately however, as with Britain and the USA, many of New Zealand's politicians seem to leave rather a lot to be desired right now.
