Very instructive. Probably also explains the origin of the 'one drop' stigma, whereas by contrast people who are otherwise in every respect 100% white have often fallen over themselves to try and discover a line of partial descent from the indigenous people, the Māori in my country or the Native Americans: the ancestor supposedly a chief or 'Māori princess' if the usual account is to be believed, though I think such stories grow more aristocratic in the telling.
