Yeah, ‘Forgotten History’ is better; see Mariana Mazzucato’s book ‘The Entrepreneurial State’, which devotes a chapter to the publicly developed technologies inside the iPhone. This was no secret; the US Govt actually publicised them first.

Anyhow, the fact that without the Pentagon and NASA, the fact that the first chips would have been a hard sell is common knowledge, albeit just as often forgotten.

I also wonder if someone who develops a monopolistic retail platform that delivers eyeballs to advertisers on a mature internet is really a “tech” innovator, in the same sense that the people who actually developed microchips and the internet in the first place were tech innovators.
